{"id":1694,"date":"2020-10-03T00:18:54","date_gmt":"2020-10-03T04:18:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tree-pictures.com\/trees\/?p=1694"},"modified":"2020-10-03T14:33:18","modified_gmt":"2020-10-03T18:33:18","slug":"trimmed-cedars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tree-pictures.com\/trees\/cedar-tree\/trimmed-cedars.html","title":{"rendered":"Trim Cedars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Best <strong>Cedar Tree trimming<\/strong> time is late Fall or early Spring ! <\/p>\n<p>A<strong> Cedar tree&#8217;s<\/strong> growth\u00a0generally retains the latest\u00a0shape created\u00a0&#8230;\u00a0but a new trimming can bring back the design shape you like best.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_Tgc\">Cedar trees can be formed into\u00a0many shapes.\u00a0 This is an easy DIY project!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_Tgc\">When one is <b>pruning\u00a0cedars<\/b>,\u00a0 some prefer to cut\u00a0the bottom\u00a0wider than the top to allow sunlight to\u00a0the lower branches &#8230; more of a Christmas tree or cone shape. <strong>Cedars<\/strong> are\u00a0flexible and as shown in the picture above as cedars are trimmed in more of a column shape.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"st\">Trimming\u00a0cedar trees or hedge can be\u00a0done most any time of the year. The best time is after spring&#8217;s 6-8 week cedar leaf growth period. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cedar Pruning Caution:<\/strong> Start out slowly and trim\u00a0a little at a time until your shape starts to develop.\u00a0 Cutting to deeply into the cedar you will run into the interior branches that have little or no foliage &#8230; then\u00a0you end with a hole in you shape .. not so good!<\/p>\n<p>Tools\u00a0need are a sharp pair of\u00a0hand shears for smaller trees &#8230; some smaller cedar hedges can be done with shears but with larger cedar hedges one needs an electric or gas shears.<\/p>\n<p>If you have large and tall cedar hedges consider using an arborist as there is some danger and\/or skill involved.<\/p>\n<p>Advantages\u00a0to regular annual pruning is that it keeps the cedar&#8217;s\u00a0shape you want.
