Amazing that a cedar tree split in half can survive not 1-5 years but for over 25 years.
One reason for this is the center of the trunk, which is not there anymore, does not deliver the nutrition and moisture to the leafs.
It is the outer layers under the cedar bark that lets the tree survive and continue growing!
