While on a walk a number of trees on the trail were tagged with bar codes. One must have your phone with you and be able to scan the barcode. Too bad they did include the tree type on the sign.

Oak Tree Flooring
Wood flooring is on the top list of most of todays home reno’s … just watch some HGTV episodes. In the past 2″ Oak flooring, as pictured here, was installed in many homes in the early 1900”s.
Due to it’s thin 3/8 inch thickness, it can only be sanded a few times before the tongue and groves that join the strips together rise to the surface …causing the oak to split and crack.
As a result the floor is generally no good and un-repairable.

What tree are these lumps from?
These are from the Bald Cypress tree and are called as Bald Cypress Knees. They are part of the tree’s roots system and specialize in gaseous air exchange, this is because the tree is usually found in wet soils where the roots cannot get air.
Bald Cypress Knees can make your lawn impossible to walk or cut. These knee roots can be cut off without harming the tree and is best done in the winter. Best contact a professional tree service company.
